Ontario Christian Books in Mississauga Closing

Two and a half years ago we reported the death of Lance Muir, founder of Ontario Christian Books in Mississauga. Now we’ve been told of the selling of the building and the impending closure of the store.

On their website there is just one line, “WE ARE CLOSING – SELLING OFF ALL STOCK AT A DISCOUNT!” but no further information. Their Facebook page would appear to have been completely under-utilized. There are no local (community) media reports, either; as often happens in a case like this.

As I wrote before, this was a truly unique store, especially in their commitment to serving pastors and seminary students. When I worked for either G. R. Welch or Mainroads Music Group (can’t remember which) I was sent there to do a sales call one of my first (and last, when I realized this was something I wasn’t very good at).

We wish their staff God’s best in future endeavours.

I came by today and was shocked to learn that the store is gone. So sad. Now where do we go?

In the broader region, the biggest store is the one in Burlington, Family Christian Bookstore. (No relation to the American Family Christian chain.)
Good Books in Oakville is another option.

O dear, this was my go to store for Christian materials for the past 25 years. I’m in need of a bible now for my 16yr old sons birthday which brought me to inquire if they were open after 3 months retail COVID19 shutdown. So sad to hear they’ve been forced to closed there doors.
