Remembering Lance Muir of Ontario Christian Books

Ontario Christian Books is a unique store. Located in Streetsville, which is now part of Mississauga, the store especially resonated with scholars and pastors looking for academic books, especially obscure titles and commentary sets. In my brief career as a sales rep in the 1980s, I remember leaving the store one time thinking to myself, ‘Everyone else is buying box sets and breaking them up; this store buys individual books and creates sets.’

Store manager Lance Muir passed away at home on Good Friday at age 75. The store website announcement includes, “All of us at Ontario Christian Books will miss him more than we can say. We know that many of our customers enjoyed interacting with him in the store.”

The obituary in the Toronto Star notes the visitation is at, “Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St. (Hwy. 10, N. of QEW), on Thursday, April 27th, 2–4 and 7–9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Chartwell Baptist Church, 1880 Lakeshore Rd. W., Mississauga, Friday, April 28th, 2 p.m.

“If desired, remembrances may be made to Teen Challenge Canada or Princess Margaret Hospital.

“Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca
