Former Employees: Measuring Past Commitment
One of the interesting metrics for us right now is to look at the return rate of former employees as customers. In our store, we only hire from our customer base, so it’s a given that if they were customers before, they will be customers after.
So it’s not surprising that four of our past employees continue to be regular customers, one of whom we recently re-hired. But there are also a couple who ‘rode off into the sunset’ and haven’t returned, even though they live in the area.
Ideally, you want to hire people who have a love and a passion for what you sell, and also the vibe of your particular store. Customers like that make the best employees and former employees like that make the best customers.
