TBT: Stormie the Workout Coach

Stormie on Spring Arbor cover

Stormie Omartian has lived a number of lifetimes. First a dark childhood chronicled in her autobiography. Then her time with husband Michael working with Campus Crusade and recording music. Next, her exercise videos, as noted below on the cover of a Spring Arbor catalogue. Finally, the present era best represented by The Power of a Praying series of books. (For my Canadian readers, someone else who has lived a number of lifetimes would be Brian Stiller; but for most of us, the ride of life is a bit more mundane.)

No it's not pronounced like little green men from Ireland, it's oh-MAR-tee-an. And there's no apostrophe.

Think you might be getting your leprechauns and your aliens mixed up there, Paul!

I thought Martians were green, too.

I’m sure they are; but it’s the comment about pronunciation that has me wondering…

How is it pronounced in your part of the world? Oh-MAR-tee-an is standard here and in the U.S., I believe.

I’ve always pronounced it as per the little green chaps from Mars, but I suppose it could be pronounced to rhyme with the Irish ones.

This made my day, Paul – what a fun TBT!
