Customers Force Windsor’s New Store To Open Early
Windsor has a new Christian bookstore. After a temporary run in the old Cameron’s location as Inspirational Value Centre, which closed January 17th, Derek Ouellette has launched Inspired Christian Storehouse at at 1250 Tecumseh Rd East. The opening took place faster than expected, as Derek explained in a letter to customers:
Originally I told you I wanted to be open this week, but as we began to stock inventory it became apparent to me that many of our shipments won’t be coming in until next week…
But then so many of you told me exactly what you wanted. I’ve been getting emails, phone calls and Facebook messages from people asking if we’d be open in time to purchase a Bible as an Easter gift. Or people so anxious to pick up or order a book they’ve been waiting for…
So I’ve made the decision to open up immediately.
The store features familiar merchandise displays — the fixtures themselves purchased from Doug Sprunt at Salem Storehouse in Ottawa — as well as The Nook, a place to relax and check Facebook! The logo, pictured above, was one of three from which customers were asked to make a final choice; the store is opening with an already large mailing list and group of Facebook followers. The store also announced on the weekend that they are partnering with Under The Son, a fair-trade giftware distributor featuring products handmade in Haiti.
Derek’s desire is to make Inspired Christian Storehouse more than just a retail store, but rather a meeting place; a destination for the Christian community in Windsor. We wish him all the best, and when things settle down after the April 16-18 official Grand Opening, look forward to updates and pictures of the final layout.
